The AIT lab for automated aviation
The AIT Center for Vision, Automation & Control (VAC) has its own flight laboratory, the Aerial Systems Lab (ASL). Here, the center's experts develop and test various technologies for automated aviation. The technologies and systems range from autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles and air traffic management to the development and operation of various flight platforms and flight simulators for collision avoidance systems.
In addition to outdoor test environments, there is also an indoor flight area with a safety net and a high-performance development infrastructure.
Work focuses on the autonomy of future unmanned aerial vehicles and their integration into civil airspace, air traffic management, protection of critical infrastructure from airborne threats, and other airborne applications such as forestry and agriculture, and real-time image acquisition and analysis for crisis and disaster management.
